Hello, My name is Kelly Seitz. I am the current Chair of the HM Specialty Group. The number of personnel for the three HM Company Types was addressed by our Group after being asked by the Task Force if there was a need to increase our cababilites for HM response in a post 911 environment. The Group presented a White paper explaining the need for an inhanced Team (Type 1) for WMD specific threats. This Team would require more specilized detection and sampling equipment and therfore more personnel to effectivly deploy that equipment. The Group also felt that more specilized training would be appropriate for that team. That is the short answer to your question. We know that the Team Typing document and the SEl are not without room for improvment. We will address all comments and concerns that come to the Group. We welcome constructive input. Kelly Seitz

Kelly, I am the Coordinator of a regional Type II Haz Mat Team and would like some more information related to the requirements in the new FOG manual. Specifically, what field web access capability is FIRESCOPE specifying; what are the specific capabilities of heat sensing, night vision and digital photo/video equipment required; and what designates an APR and PAPR as WMD Chem/Bio compliant? Thank you for your assistance. I look forward to discussing this with you.

Hello I will answer your questions to the best of my ability. 1. The web access is addressed on page 32 Inv# 7.4.6. Essentially what we were looking for was simply wireless Internet access. I would leave it at that. I would not want to be too spefici knowing that our document can't keep pace with improved technology. 2. The Temperature Sensing information can be found on page 34 Inv. # 8.1.8. Hand-held, portable scope: with L.E.D. direct temerature reading display, nominal -25 degree F to 1000 Degree. The idea is to be abel to locate liquid line in containers and exothermic reactions. 3. The Light Amplification information can be found on page 33 Inv. # 8.1.1. Hand-held stand alone device for diminished light environments. Monoculars and binoculars----. Generation II or III. 4. The Digital Video equipment information can be found on page 34 Inv. # 8.1.16. Hand-held digital video recorder. 5. Regarding APRs and PAPR information can be found on page 7-10 and on pages 43-45. NIOSH has developed testing and certification standards for Respiratory protection aginst WMD CBRN substances. Please give me a call if you have any questions. Please give use your constructive input. Capt. Kelly Seitz 408 378-4010
